Mrs. Fred Grimmer, 84, Called by Death; Burial Friday
Mrs. Caroline Grimmer, wife of Fred Grimmer died at the family home, 630 East
Second street at 11:30 o'clock this morning, following an illness of several
weeks. Mrs. Grimmer was 84 years of age at the time of her death.
Mrs. Grimmer was born at Neunberg on the Rhine, Germany, January 26, 1838. At
the age of 18 years she came to the United States. In 1878 she came to Oregon
and has almost continuously resided in Albany since.
While in the east the deceased was married to Mr. Lindau. To this union six
children were born, four of whom survive their mother. After the death of Mr.
Lindau Mrs. Grimmer was united in marriage to Fred Grimmer. Mr. Grimmer for many
years was an employee of the Red Crown Flour Mills of Albany, he only recently
having retired from work.
Mrs. Grimmer is survived by her aged husband and four sons. The sons are John
Lindau, Liberty, Missouri; Philip Lindau, of Albany; Fred Lindau, of Oregon
City, and William Lindau of Portland.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Fortmiller
chapel. The body will be taken to Oregon City for burial.
