Mrs. Margaretha Hornschuch, one of the well known and prominent residents of
Clackamas County, and wife of J. E. W. Hornschuch, a well known farmer of
Shubel, died at the family home on Tuesday afternoon after an illness of two
years of suffering from asthma. She was born at Dundee, Illinois, April 27,
1859, and came to Oregon in 1875. She was joined in wedlock to E. W. Hornschuch
on July 7, 1879. During her residence in Clackamas County Mrs. Hornschuch has
made many friends and was held in the highest esteem by all.
Deceased is survived by her husband, E. W. Hornschuch of Shubel, and the
following nine children: -- Mrs. Chris Muralt, Mrs. David Moenke, Mrs. Olaf Oss,
Mrs. Edward Hettiman, Miss Beulah Hornschuch, Miss Lulu Hornschuch Arthur
Hornschuch and Alvin and Walter Hornschuch; also by her mother Mrs. Grimmer of
Albany. Five brothers Philip Lindau, John Lindau, Ben Lindau and Fred Lindau of
Clarkes; William Lindau of Maple Lane.
The funeral services, which were held from the Evangelical church at Shubel on
Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, were conducted by Rev. E. A. Smith and Rev.
Wievesiek, the former conducting the service in English, while the latter in
German.
Many friends of the deceased attended the funeral and followed the remains to
their last resting place in the Shubel cemetary. The floral offerings were
beautiful and profuse. The pall bearers were neighbors of Mrs.
Hornschuch.
